KARLENE MAYWALD ELECTED AS NEW ICE WaRM CHAIR:
Former South Australian State Government Minister, Karlene Maywald, has been elected as Chair of ICE WaRM. Ms Maywald took up the position after the retirement of her long-serving predecessor Mike Terlet.
Ms Maywald is recognised for her high-profile role in water administration, particularly over the last decade. She is the Special Advisor on Water to the South Australian Premier and has served as Chair of the National Water Commission. Previously she was an advisor to the Murray-Darling Basin Ministerial Council and was on the Board of the SA Water. Ms Maywald was South Australia’s Minister for Water Security and the River Murray from 2004 to 2010 and was Member of Parliament for the regional irrigation district of Chaffey in the State Parliament for 13 years from 1997.
10 YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE FOR RETIRING CHAIR, MIKE TERLET AO:
Mr Terlet has served on the ICE WaRM Board for the past 10 years, since January 10th 2006. He was appointed Chair later that same year. He has steered ICE WaRM through many significant changes and has brought a wealth of experience to the Centre.
We extend our thanks to Mike for his valued contributions and he retires from the board at the end of 2015.
Mr Terlet earned his stripes leading the formation and growth of Australia’s largest private sector Defence and Aerospace Company, AWA Defence Industries, from 1978 to 1992. In 1991, he was recognised and made an officer of the General Order of Australia for contributions to industry and export. He has since undertaken a number of directorships in both private and public companies and has served as President of the South Australian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Engineering Employers Association. The current chairman of United Water International, Mr. Terlet is dedicated to collaboration within the local water industry.
NEW DIRECTORS JOIN ICE WaRM BOARD:
