Yellow River Delegation Completes Study Tour
Friday, 15 January, 2010
In 2009, ICE WaRM conducted a very successful Professional Development Programme for 19 mid-career professionals from the Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC) over a period of about 8 months. This programme was funded through the AusAID Australian Leadership Awards Fellowships programme. As part of that programme, ICE WaRM conducted an evaluation study programme for senior YRCC managers. Part A took place in September 2009. This also presented an opportunity for participants to attend the International River Symposium in Brisbane. Part B of this activity comprised a 10-day study programme for mid-career managers from the YRCC and took place in January 2010.
The programme for Part B aimed to further develop participants’ understandings of organisational issues in Australian water management, to foster international collaboration between the YRCC and Australia, and to enhance linkages which support education and capacity development in the YRCC.
The participants were:
- MR LIU JIANMING, Head of Delegation and Deputy Director General, Dept of Personnel, Labour & Education
- MR CHANG XIAOHUI, Project Officer, Division of Science & Technology, Dept of International Cooperation, Science & Technology
- MS DONG WU, Project Officer, Division of International Cooperation, Dept of International Cooperation, Science & Technology, YRCC
The combination of discussions with key Federal Government departments and study visits to innovative water management agencies provided a rich educational experience for our guests from the YRCC. The programme also included evaluation and forward planning meetings which will support further collaborative activities between ICE WaRM and the YRCC.
